Manage BuddyPress groups and activity with your AI agent
A community site changes while you work on it. WP MCP’s BuddyPress integration is built for that: its writes go through BuddyPress itself, and its rollbacks restore only what the write touched.
What you need
- WP MCP installed and connected to your AI client. The BuddyPress integration is free.
- BuddyPress active with the Groups, Activity Streams and Extended Profiles
components you want to use. An op whose component is off answers
buddypress_component_inactive.
The tools are ops on the plugin-data-read and plugin-data-write pair, which
appears while BuddyPress (or another supported data plugin) is active.
Read the community
› Which groups have had no activity this month?
› List the admins and moderators of the Beta group.
buddypress-list-groups, buddypress-get-group,
buddypress-list-group-members (by role), buddypress-list-activity and
buddypress-list-profile-fields. Member email is returned only to a caller who
can list users; hidden groups and hidden or spam activity only to a moderator;
activity meta (where an IP can sit) and membership request messages never.
Make changes
› Create a private group called "Beta testers" with this description.
› Rename the "Field Notes" profile field to "Where you work".
› Hide the spam activity posted overnight.
buddypress-create-group, buddypress-update-group,
buddypress-update-profile-field and buddypress-hide-activity run at
manage_options and go through BuddyPress’s own API, so its hooks fire: a new
group gets its “created the group” activity item, and add-ons listening for
group, profile field and activity changes hear about them.
buddypress-delete-activity is destructive and needs confirm: true.
Undo without collateral damage
Every write is snapshotted first as an image of every row it touches, and it records every row it and BuddyPress’s hooks created. A rollback:
- restores only the rows the write saved, by id;
- removes only the rows the write itself created;
- keeps membership requests, notifications and replies other members added after the write, and keeps reply numbering in a thread consistent;
- leaves in place, and reports, any created row that has since changed hands.
A deleted activity item comes back with its whole reply thread and meta at
their own ids. Restoring a BuddyPress snapshot takes manage_options.
