Terms of Service: WP MCP

The software

WP MCP is distributed as source code on GitHub under the GNU General Public License v2 or later (GPL-2.0-or-later), the same license as WordPress itself. Today the entire plugin, including the safety engine (snapshot, apply, verify, rollback) and every registered tool, ships free with no Pro tools currently gating any functionality. A Pro tier is planned, billed through Freemius when it goes live, and would add features such as unlimited history and Elementor deep editing without changing the license of the underlying code.

Software license (GPL)

The GPL gives you the freedom to run, study, modify, and redistribute the plugin's code, including forking it. It does not extend to our trademarks: the WP MCP name and logo identify this specific project and are not covered by the GPL grant. If a future Pro license key system is introduced, that key would control access to premium feature activation, automatic updates, and support, separate from the GPL-licensed code itself; sharing, reselling, or circumventing such a system would not be permitted.

Use of the plugin on your site

WP MCP runs entirely on your own WordPress installation and connects to an AI client of your choosing over the Model Context Protocol, authenticated by a WordPress application password you control. You are responsible for:

Which AI client you connect, and what permissions that connection carries.
Backups of your own site, independent of WP MCP's snapshot/rollback engine, which is a change-recovery tool, not a full site backup solution.
Complying with the terms of any AI provider (for example Anthropic or a Cursor-compatible client) you connect to your site.
Reviewing which tools are enabled and which capabilities they require before granting write access on a production site.

What the safety engine does and does not guarantee

WP MCP's snapshot-and-restore engine covers a specific, documented set of object types: posts and pages (including WooCommerce products and menu items, which are posts under the hood), options, users, comments, and WooCommerce orders. A small set of deliberately risky operations, raw database row writes and permanent plugin/theme/file deletion, are disabled by default and, where enabled, honestly report when they are not recoverable rather than claiming an undo path that does not exist. Free-tier operation history is capped at the most recent 20 operations; a long AI agent session on the free tier can outrun that cap before it finishes. See the documentation for the current, precise scope; we would rather you read exactly what is and is not covered than assume it covers everything.

Support

Support for the free plugin is provided on a best-effort basis through GitHub Issues. If a Pro tier launches with paid support, its terms will be described on this page and at checkout at that time.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the website or the plugin to break the law, infringe others' rights, distribute malware, or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to our services or those of others. You may not misrepresent a modified copy of the plugin as an official WP MCP (wpmcp) release, or use our trademarks to imply an affiliation that does not exist.

Trademarks and content

The WP MCP name and logo are trademarks of Fahad Murtaza / iSuperCoder. The GPL covers the plugin's code; it does not grant rights to our trademarks or to the content of this website. You may quote and link to our documentation with attribution.

Disclaimer of warranties

The website and the plugin are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. This mirrors the warranty disclaimer of the GPL. We do not warrant that the plugin will be error-free, that every write will be recoverable, or that it will work with every theme, plugin, or hosting configuration. Read the documentation for the specific, current scope of the undo guarantee before relying on it for a production store.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, arising from your use of the website or the plugin, including from a change that turned out not to be recoverable. Because the free plugin is provided at no cost, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it (zero, for the free tier) or a nominal sum where required by mandatory local law. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects consumer rights you hold under mandatory local law.

Termination

You can stop using the website and the plugin at any time, and can uninstall the plugin like any other WordPress plugin. We may suspend or terminate any paid license services (updates, support, activations) for material breach of these terms, such as key resale or license circumvention, once such services exist. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including licensing, disclaimers, and limitation of liability, survive.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Pakistan. If you use the plugin or this website as a consumer, you retain any protections granted by the mandatory laws of your country of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product or the law changes. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision, and material changes, such as the introduction of a paid Pro tier, will be reflected here before they take effect. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

General

If any provision of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. These terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the website and the plugin, and supersede any prior representations or understandings. We may assign our rights and obligations without notice; you may not assign these terms without our written consent. By using the website or plugin you confirm you are at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent applicable in your country if higher, and have authority to bind any organization on whose behalf you are acting.
