Themes integration

MCP for Astra

Astra keeps its customizer settings in one astra-settings option. WP MCP's theme pair adds an Astra pack while Astra is the active theme family: get-astra-settings reads the writable keys (theme, link, link hover, text and heading colors, and the site content width), and set-astra-settings writes them with each value sanitized per key, colors as hex, rgb or an Astra palette reference. One invalid value refuses the whole batch before anything is written. The option is snapshotted first and Astra's compiled CSS cache is refreshed afterwards, and after a rollback too. Theme writes are opt-in.

What your AI can do

Real Astra operations, every write reversible.

  • Read Astra's global colors and content width
  • Set colors as hex, rgb/rgba, or an Astra palette reference
  • Change the site content width
  • Refresh Astra's compiled CSS after writes and rollbacks
  • Roll back any settings change exactly

Example prompts

Just ask.

Set the Astra link color to our brand teal and the headings to near-black.

Widen the content area to 1280 pixels.

Under the hood

The real calls.

wpmcp, astra

theme-read({ operation: "get-astra-settings" }), writable keys + allowlist

theme-write({ operation: "set-astra-settings", args: { settings: { "link-color": "#0e7490" } } }), opt-in; snapshotted

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

Why only a few Astra settings?

The pack is narrow on purpose: colors and content width, the knobs an agent is actually asked for. A site can widen the allowlist with the wpmcp_theme_framework_pack_allowlist filter.

Are theme writes on by default?

No. They stay off until a site enables them with the wpmcp_enable_theme_write filter.
